PacSat Microwave (Pacific Satellite) has successfully completed beta testing on its 5.8 GHz parabolic grid antenna - the 5830, and it is now available for order.

The antenna is intended for medium-long range point-to-point links between sites or as part of a backbone data network. Being a grid antenna, it is suitable in applications where high-gain is required without the weight and size of a solid-dish.

Main specifications include: suitable for 5.8 GHz 802.11a and 802.11b operation; 30 dBi gain; 4° horizontal beam-width; 7° vertical beam-width; front-to-back ratio better than -40 dB; 3 kg in weight including mounting; reflector size of 900 x 600 mm.

The antenna has a surface-treated, corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy reflector and a brass feed to ensure a long service life. The mount has been specifically designed to accommodate the antenna's narrow beam width and allows fine adjustment vertically and horizontally.
