Version 10 of GeoLENs mobile location centre, the flexible system platform of its GeoLENs wireless and wireline location solution has been released.

With this version is increased processing capacity, and it allows operators the tools to maximise their investment in location infrastructure. Additional features help improve the performance of Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) for E-911 applications.

It is claimed to be a complete location system that supports both gateway and serving functions for emergency, value-added and security LBS. The company believes it supports a wide range of positioning capabilities, including handset-based, network-based and hybrid locating for 2G and 3G access - specifically, cell identity (CID), A-GPS, enhanced-CID (E-CID), uplink time difference of arrival (U-TDOA) on the traffic channel, multiple range estimation location and angle of arrival (AOA).

Added capabilities include: installed policy server for secure user plane location, giving operators more control over end-device access to valuable location service resources; increased query capacity to support the growth of location-based services; more powerful mobile location protocol (MLP) 3.2 asynchronous mode reporting and multi-mobile subscriber integrated services digital network number (MSISDN) query modes; added smart virtual device cache technology that improves A-GPS yield for emergency calls regardless of calling device limitations; enhanced integrated location query tool capability; extended event records for richer historical and statistical analysis; enhanced diagnostic data for improved SUPL transaction analysis; extended operational security and data management measures; optimised initial position for emergency calling (E-911).
