ARCIA's Brisbane conference, workshops, dinner

ARCIA will hold its first conference, on the theme of ‘Future trends in communications’, at the Rydges South Bank Hotel in Brisbane on 25 July 2019.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, from LMR to smart cities, 3GPP to PSMB, data to ACMA field operations. Speakers include well-known communications professionals such as Hamish Duff, Kevin Graham, Geoff Spring, Dale Stacey, Ranjan Bhagat, Ged Griffin, Graham Tait and Chris Fosten.

Running concurrently with the conference will be two workshops. The morning workshop, presented by Mark Mezzapica (RFI Wireless) and Chris Stevens (SLSA), will tackle the topic of ‘RF filtering and transmitter multi-coupling systems’. The afternoon workshop, presented by Chris Stevens, will cover ‘Mapping and GIS fundamentals for critical communications’. Both workshops are industry accredited training sessions hosted by ARCIA as part of its Professional Development Training series. Attendees who complete the workshop(s) will receive a certificate of attendance and completion from ARCIA.

The Industry Dinner and Networking event will also be held at the Rydges South Bank Hotel. This is a great opportunity to join other radio professionals and share news and views about the communications industry. Bookings, including group bookings, can be make here.

A highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the Queensland Industry Professional of the Year, for which nominations are now open. Nominees must fall into one of more the following categories:

  • An industry professional who has made a significant contribution to the radio industry.
  • An apprentice or new talent who has achieved well above expectations.
  • An industry professional who has developed an innovation that provides increased opportunity or value to the industry.
  • An industry professional who has developed initiatives in training or similar areas that benefit the entire industry within the state.
