What did a 1950s radio workshop look like?

If you’re a fan of valves, then you should take a look at a couple of great new photos on the Airways Museum & Civil Aviation Historical Society’s website, which shows technicians at the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) radio workshops at Rosehill, NSW in the 1950s, working on ex-WWII General Electric BC-191/375 radio transmitters. The DCA modified the transmitters for use as non-directional beacons, or NDBs.

There is lots of other great historical radio information on the Airways Museum website, including HF, DF, navigation aids, radar and more.
