ACMA temporary licensing shutdown this month
The ACMA has advised that all apparatus licence processing will be suspended for two weeks from Friday, 14 August to Tuesday, 1 September 2015, so the agency can update its licensing systems.
The ACMA is working to replace and improve its ageing radiocommunications licensing and frequency assigning toolsets — a process known as Project HELM.
Some stakeholders, such as those accredited persons working in the spectrum licensing arena, will already be familiar with the ACMA Lodgement Facility (ALF), a business-to-government (B2G) system that facilitates the registration of devices under spectrum licences.
The Project HELM team is working to implement apparatus licensing functions within the new system. The final stage of Project HELM will be to provide functionality for broadcast licensing. This is scheduled to occur in the third quarter of 2015.
The ACMA will not be processing any apparatus licences and device registrations or renewals from Friday, 14 August until Tuesday, 1 September 2015. Processing will resume on Wednesday, 2 September 2015.
During this period, no licence applications will be processed and no new licences will be issued. Most licensees will not notice the shutdown, but in some cases there may be delays.
