Applications called for new ACMA chair

The federal government has issued a call for applications for the position of ACMA chair.

Deputy chairman Richard Bean has been acting chair since February 2016, with the latter role scheduled to be completed in October this year.

In a notice published on the Department of Communications and the Arts website, the government said it is seeking a “talented leader” who will bring to the job “high level leadership skills and vision, the ability to manage large and complex operations, an understanding of regulatory issues, and a demonstrated ability to propose and implement change”.

The role includes leading the other members of the ACMA in “executing its regulatory decision-making powers and obligations”.

“As the public face of the ACMA, you will foster strong collaborative relationships with key industry and government stakeholders across the telecommunications, broadcasting, spectrum and internet sectors.”

A total remuneration package of $522,240 is being offered.

Applicants must be Australian citizens, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply, and the principles of equal opportunity and diversity hold.
