Critical comms users on stage at Comms Connect next month
This year’s Comms Connect Melbourne conference will feature a series of end users of critical communications technology sharing their real-life experience in deploying new and innovative products and services.
Allan Cambridge from Coastguard Nelson in NZ will share details of the organisation’s new radio dispatch system, while James Lowe from Ergon Energy will discuss how the utilities company prepared to secure critical command energy supply infrastructure during and after Tropical Cyclone Alfred in Queensland back in March. Matthew White from the NSW Rural Fire Service will meanwhile present a paper on the service’s rollout of a series of VaaN (vehicle-as-a-node) fire vehicles — and the difference it is making to response times and the service offered to local communities.
Rania Wannous from NSW Telco Authority will share the stage with ex-NSW Fire Chief Shane Fitzsimmons and Pivotel Satellite’s Darren Cooley as they discuss the recent rollout of a cell-on-wheels (CoW) deployment. This rapid connectivity solution for remote communities is a vital step forward for disaster resilience and recovery operations. A CoW trailer will be on display on the expo floor on the Pivotel Satellite stand.
Over 1500 attendees are expected at the region’s premier public safety and critical communications event on 15–16 October, with preconference workshops by industry associations ARCIA and ACCF/TCCA being held on 14 October. Over 80 companies will feature on the expo floor and the three-stream conference program will showcase over 60 thought leaders from across the region and across the globe.
