JVC Kenwood and Airbus form broadband alliance
Airbus Defence and Space (formerly Cassidian) and the JVC Kenwood have formed an alliance to evaluate developments in public safety wireless broadband technology for North America and Europe. The companies say that, in the long term, this will enable them to offer services to these key markets in response to the future needs of existing and new customers.
There is a growing need for public safety organisations such as the police, fire brigades and emergency response teams to expand their communications from narrowband voice to 3G or LTE in order to be able to transfer data such as images and videos. To promote North American as well as European business development, Airbus and JVC Kenwood will examine technologies applicable to both P25 and TETRA as well as exploring opportunities to jointly develop technologies and solutions for PMR markets.
