Tibor Bece receives ARCIA award
Tibor Bece, GME’s General Manager of Research and Innovation, has been recognised by his peer group as the 2018 winner of the ARCIA NSW Division’s Industry Excellence Award for his significant contribution to the Australian radiocommunications industry.
Tibor, a 25-year GME veteran, was presented with the 2018 NSW Radio Communications award at the Australian Radio Communications Industry Association Comms Connect Gala Dinner in Sydney last week.
The nominees for the award are proposed by the general ARCIA membership, then voted on by the executive committee. Determination of the award winner is based on criteria that incorporate the nominees’ commitment, leadership, innovation, team work and service.
In presenting the award, ARCIA’s Martin McLeod made special mention of Tibor’s low-profile but substantial and ongoing contribution to design innovation and radio engineering excellence.
Warwick Clancy, GME’s Managing Director and long-time colleague, said that “Tibor’s role at GME can never be understated or undervalued. He has been intimately involved in the design of every GME product for more than 25 years; this includes our UHF CB, emergency beacons, professional and marine radio.
“Over the years Tibor’s integration of new technologies, like DSP in UHF CB for example, set new standards in performance and circuit efficiency.”
Tibor will now be the NSW nominee for the ARCIA National Industry Professional of the Year award, which will be announced at the national gala dinner in Melbourne during November.
