RS has released the Motorola Talkabout T5509R.

Built to withstand outdoor use, the radio has a range of features including 1 W transmit power and up to 7 km line of sight range. It is supplied with a pair of handy belt clips for greater portability and convenience.

The 38 privacy codes of the continuous tone coded squelch system (CTCSS) allows the user to listen to transmissions using the same code on the same channel, effectively blocking out unwanted conversations.

Other features include: 40 licence-free channels; channel scan; two replaceable faceplates; range extender in duplex mode; keypad lock and keypad tones; backlit display; battery level indicator and audible low battery alert; and hands-free (VOX) with or without optional headset.
