The Xworks ORC100 is a compact, industrial radio over IP appliance. It is used for connecting conventional radio networks to an IP backbone, enabling them to become part of a larger unified communications system.
Due to its small form factor, the device is suitable for retrofitting within existing radio installations and provides a mechanism for enabling remote network access, bridging disparate networks (eg, VHF to UHF) or providing a link between networks separated by large distances.
The device connects to a conventional base station or mobile radio through a 600 Ω transformer-coupled audio interface, enabling either fully differential or single-ended operation.
The radio interface provides E&M signalling I/O for mute detection and transmitter key operation, along with two serial ports and additional I/O for monitoring and control.
Audio compression is achieved using either G.711 or G.729 codecs, providing high or low bandwidth solutions. Additional features include sub-audible (CTCSS) and five-tone (selcall) signalling, along with test-tone generation and diagnostic loopback capability.
A talk-through function is also provided, which enables local retransmission of received audio signals.
A web browser is used for remote management of the device enabling a user to view the system event log and plots of historical data, download logged information or remotely enable diagnostic functions.
