Radio Frequency Systems has unveiled a suite of ferrite isolators and circulators.
Specially engineered to enhance stability, performance and reliability of RF systems, over 2000 different Ferrocom devices are available for integration into a wide range of commercial mobile and public safety base stations, plus RF and microwave systems.
The primary purpose of an isolator is to compensate for mismatch between RF system components, which can otherwise lead to power being reflected back into sensitive electrical equipment, such as amplifiers and base stations.
They are suitable for applications where low insertion loss, high linearity and ability to withstand high power are required. Loss in the range 0.1 to 0.5 dB, depending on frequency and model, is typical. They will also handle up to 250 W forward power and up to four times as much peak power. In addition, they have good intermodulation and linearity performance.
The designs support frequencies from 80 MHz to 40 GHz, and comprise three main types of device: ‘drop in’, offer cost-effective and space-efficient solutions; coaxial, suitable for low-frequency applications; and waveguide, most used for high-frequency applications (typically 26 to 40 GHz), or those requiring extremely low insertion loss.
