B&K Precision's Model 4051 is a programmable multifunction generator that is suitable for R&ampD, manufacturing test systems, educational and training applications, and service and repair.

In addition to the standard features, the 4051 has an adjustable triple output switching power supply, universal logic probe, auto-ranging frequency counter and a digital voltmeter. All these features allow the analysis and measurement of many aspects of an electronic circuit.

Some of the features of the unit include: 20 MHz sweep function generator; 35 MHz universal logic probe; 80 W triple output switching power supply; auto-ranging frequency and totalise counter; and auto-ranging digital voltmeter.

Using a standard 240 VAC power source, the unit can produce precision sine, square, triangle, ± pulse, or ± ramp waves over the 0.15 Hz to 20 MHz in eight ranges.

The generator combines several functions such as waveform and pulse generation (through variable symmetry), an adjustable triple output switching power supply, universal logic probe, auto-ranging frequency counter and a digital voltmeter frequency sweep.

The instrument is also a frequency counter that allows more accurate determination of output frequency than is possible with a calibrated dial. Course and fine tuning controls permit precision setting of the output frequency.

A continuously variable DC offset allows the output to be injected directly into circuits at the correct DC bias level.

Operating as a sweep generator, the instrument has a linear or log sweep with a variable sweep rate and adjustable sweep time. Variable symmetry of the output waveform converts the instrument to a pulse generator to create rectangular waves or pulses, ramp or saw tooth waves and slewed sine waves.

Other specifications include a TTL output (open circuit condition for frequencies </-2 MHz of </-0.4 V max logic low level voltage, >/-2.6 V max logic high level voltage with a rise time of </-15 ns and 50% typical duty cycle. CMOS output level ranges from 3.0 to 15.0 V, ±0.5 Vp-p, with a rise time of 120 ns.

As a frequency counter, the unit has a range of 3.0 Hz to 35 MHz auto-ranging. The unit's triple output DC power supply offers output voltages of 5/3.3 V (Vcc),0~+24 V (+Vs) and 0~-24 V (-Vs) with output current ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 A.
