Pattern generator

The USB-DIO-16H features 16 high-speed buffered digital inputs or digital outputs capable of continuous, sustained streaming speeds up to 16 MBps for fast, unlimited waveform pattern generation.

The module can provide 80 MBps data bursts with handshaking signals for synchronising communications. The onboard 1 kHz to 40 MHz programmable clock determines the data transfer rate. An external clock input is also available.

The USB-DIO-16A also provides 18 bits of general-purpose TTL-compatible digital I/O configurable as four separate ports for input or output.

The series includes two I/O models, the USB-DIO-16H with 128 KB FIFO data buffers and the USB-DIO-16A with 8 KB buffers. An input only model, the USB-DI16A and an output only model, the USB-DIO16A are also available.

The USB-DIO-16H is port powered via the USB cable; however, for higher current sourcing capabilities, an optional external power pack may be used.

The USB-DIO-16H is a high-speed USB 2.0 device and offers hot swapping functionality for quick connect/disconnect for additional I/O on the USB port.

The USB-DIO-16H was designed for rugged industrial environments. All models feature high-retention USB connectors and are housed inside a steel powder-coated enclosure with an anti-skid bottom.
