Berkeley Varitronics has introduced the Yellowfin WiMAX developer’s kit for mobile WiMAX development engineers.

The kit includes a calibrated mobile WiMAX receiver and DLL (dynamic link libraries) software to get engineers up and running with their own custom software development.

Developers can control Yellowfin receiver modules. The calibrated receiver provides spectrum analysis between 2.0-5.9 GHz covering wireless bands including Wi-Fi, WiMAX, ISM, public safety, Bluetooth and more.

Yellowfin provides demodulation between 2.3-3.8 GHz for mobile ID and segment information, multipath analysis and CINR (carrier-to-interference-plus-noise-ratios) on a preamble basis.

The company’s receiver measures RSSI to within +1.5 dB of any nearby WiMAX packet on or off a network. The kit contains ethernet and mini USB ports for PC connectivity as well as an internal 12-channel/satellite GPS receiver and necessary DLL software and documentation.
