Inrico and Abix deliver event comms at Rock in Rio

Onsite communications at last month’s Rock in Rio festival were provided by global comms company Inrico, in collaboration with local partner Abix. Together, the companies deployed Inrico’s T710A smart push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) radios and iConvNet platform to support operational coordination across this large-scale music festival.

Held in Rio de Janeiro, Rock in Rio 2026 welcomed more than 700,000 attendees over seven days, featuring 190 shows, more than 1300 artists and 45 international performances. Coordinating activities across an event of this scale requires reliable communications to support collaboration among security, production, catering and other operational teams throughout event preparation, live performances and audience dispersal.

The T710A PoC radios and iConvNet platform formed part of the onsite communications solution, supported by communications infrastructure and technical services. The deployment was found to address the need for timely information exchange and coordination among various team operations across different areas of the festival.

“In large-scale events, reliable communications are essential to coordinating teams, exchanging information and responding efficiently to changing operational requirements,” said Inrico CEO Renxing Pan. “Our focus is on providing practical, reliable communication solutions that meet the demands of frontline operations. Through our collaboration with Abix at Rock in Rio 2026, we demonstrated how professional PoC devices and communications platforms can support cross-team operations in complex, fast-paced environments.”

The T710A smart PoC radio is designed to support communication across busy event sites. Its 2 W speaker and 4G LTE/Wi-Fi connectivity enable push-to-talk communication, helping staff coordinate tasks across different operational areas. With IP67-rated protection, 1.2-metre drop resistance and a 4000 mAh battery, the radio is built for demanding outdoor environments and extended shifts. Programmable keys and professional headset support provide additional flexibility for different event teams.

The Rock in Rio deployment reflects the application of professional PoC communications in large-scale event operations, where multiple teams must coordinate activities across a shared site. By combining communication terminals with platforms and implementation support, Inrico aims to help organisations improve team coordination and meet the communication requirements of field operations.
