Airbus appoints Latin America head

Airbus Defence & Space has appointed Fred Gallart as the new head of sales and program delivery for Latin America. He will be the regional manager for all PMR sales and service activities in Central and South America, overseeing almost 100 employees in in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.

He has almost 30 years of exceptional experience in the area of PMR and has held top management positions in Mexico, Brazil and the United States. Before joining Airbus Defence & Space, he had engagements with companies such as Motorola, Harris Corporation and Embratel.

“Our growth strategy in Latin America coincides with an increasing demand for reliable public safety solutions in Latin America. Our mission-critical public safety solutions in TETRA, TETRAPOL and broadband meet the market needs perfectly,” said Gallart.

Since the late 1980s, Airbus Defence & Space has fulfilled orders from state institutions in Latin America, such as national and regional governments. The company installed the nationwide network Interconexión de Redes Integrales de Seguridad Pública (IRIS) used by the Mexican security forces, while the federal police in Brazil use the National Integrated Radio Communication Network.

“Relying on our installed networks, mainly in Mexico but also in Brazil, we intend to further enlarge our footprint in Latin America; and we can accomplish this,” said Airbus’s head of secure land communications, Olivier Koczan.

“The technical turning point that we are now reaching towards broadband will bring new opportunities on top of our TETRA and TETRAPOL offering.”
