Car racing club upgrades with Icom NZ radios
Canterbury Car Club (Mike Pero Motorsport Park) in Christchurch has undergone a digital radio upgrade through its partnership with Icom NZ.
The New Zealand-based club has opted to bring the latest in NXDN digital technology to the track. The 40 IC-F3263DT and five IC-F5063D radios, along with 15 headsets, were supplied by Icom NZ.
The digital radios were chosen for their ability to provide reliable audio clarity in a loud environment where communication is critical. With built-in noise cancellation, background sounds are reduced so that a clear communications channel is always available.
The company claims the digital modulation/demodulation makes it difficult to decode the IDAS digital signal using the current scanner receivers, and race secrets are therefore kept safe due to the security features of the digital voice scrambler.
