ComGroup invests $10m in new technology
ComGroup has made a $10m investment in new technologies and R&D to strengthen its market position and deliver communications solutions in sectors ranging from oil and gas to emergency services.
Part of the Simoco group, within the global Team Telecom Group (TTG), ComGroup will focus the investment on its R&D division with eight new engineers being recruited across the Simoco group, and the development of new digital products including the latest DMR Tier 3 and P25 Phase 2 technology.
ComGroup's sales team will also be expanded to support business across the Australasian market.
The announcement comes following a company-wide restructure designed to enhance operational performance and user service. The new structure enables ComGroup to strengthen its focus on user projects and R&D, while integrating operational functions for greater efficiencies.
The company's technology roadmap now includes DMR infrastructure and terminals; P25 Phase 2 products and intrinsically safe portables; in addition to analog developments such as the new Xfin base; dispatcher and digital voice recorder, which provides low-cost conventional infrastructure with full IP connectivity.
With business ahead of target for the current financial year, the company's latest projects include the largest private TETRA network in Australia; the design, supply, and commissioning of all radio communications for one of the world's largest natural gas projects; and the supply of P25 ready two-way radio equipment and vehicle location technology to over 750 mobile and fixed sites for the Victorian State Emergency Services.
With its roots dating back to the days in which Pye designed and manufactured radios for the military during World War II, ComGroup is today a company with over 70 years of experience in the radio communications industry.
Its latest development, as part of the Simoco Group, will also see it work with sister company Team Simoco to build upon the technology strength of the two companies and deliver products across a range of radio technologies.
