Comms Connect draws international headliners to Melbourne

The 19th edition of Comms Connect Melbourne, being held on 15–16 October at MCEC, will feature the largest number of international critical comms and public safety experts the event has ever seen. They will be complemented by local and regional speakers sharing the latest updates on the Australian PSMB project, satellite technologies, digital LMR, P25, disaster resilience, spectrum allocation and access, 5G mmWave, AI in MCX, cyber risk and much more.

International headliners include Dr David Lund, who will share the latest updates from the EUCCS program at Public Safety Communication Europe. Stories from New Zealand’s NGCC program will be shared by a panel featuring NGCC’s Steve Ferguson, Hourua’s Sam Newton and Inspector Kerei Gray from NZ Police. P25 international expert Cheryl Giggetts will once again travel from the US for the event, while GSMA APAC President Julian Gorman, from Hong Kong, will share his thoughts on the convergence of public, private and virtual networks. The event’s first Brazilian speaker, Lt Colonel Gustavo Dantas, will meanwhile present an update on Brazil’s military police communication platforms.

A team of international agency leaders will also feature in an International Public Safety Fireside Chat on day one, following their attendance at the GPSOC summit being hosted by NSW Telco Authority in Sydney the week before Comms Connect.

Local leaders locked in for the program include Kylie De Courteney and Rania Wannous from NSW Telco, Brad Creevey from NEMA, and CEOs from AMTA (Louise Hyland) and ATA (Luke Coleman). Pre-conference workshops will also be available on 14 October, presented by event partners ARCIA and ACCF/TCCA.
