Comms Connect NZ delivers powerful industry investment news

More than 550 critical communications and public safety technology leaders converged on Wellington in the last week of May at the largest Comms Connect New Zealand event in its 11‍-‍year history. Kicked off with a major pre-budget investment announcement from Mark Mitchell, Minister for Emergency Management & Recovery, the event delivered a number of high-quality conference papers and sessions, including the inaugural NZ Women in Critical Comms and AI in Critical Comms panels.

The government is committing to expanding the world-leading Public Safety Network platform beyond the main emergency service sectors into a broad range of response and public safety operations, including LandSAR, Surf Life Saving and Coastguard operations, just to name a few. One communications platform will enable smarter and faster connections between key responders in any disaster or emergency operation — and will ultimately save lives. This will bring New Zealand on par with the USA and make it a genuine global trailblazer in this critical sector.

More than 50 leading critical comms technology suppliers exhibited the latest products and solutions to visitors, and the exhibition floor was abuzz with conversation and connections over the two-day event.

The conference presentations approved for sharing will be available on the event website in the next week.

Comms Connect now looks towards its flagship event in Melbourne in October, which is almost booked out, with a conference Call for Papers to be announced shortly.
