Distributor appointed

Trio Smartcal has a new role as the distributor for Agilent Technologies for Qld, NSW, ACT, Vic and Tas. Also covered will be defence accounts in SA. Trio Smartcal will sell Agilent's "˜basic instrument' range of general-purpose test and measurement products.

Agilent says the appointment is part of the company's strategy to get closer to its increasing user base. Agilent's existing Australian sales and marketing operations remained unchanged.

Trio will provide extended regional face-to-face user contact, increased marketing and local stocking of faster turn-over items such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.

Moving the sales of basic instruments to a distribution channel permits Agilent's own direct sales force to spend more time on more complex products in their key customers.

Agilent has its service, calibration and support operations in Melbourne. Trio will also offer Agilent's extended warranties to its users.
