Funding grants offered by Motorola Solutions Foundation

The Motorola Solutions Foundation will award grants of up to $50,000 for programs that provide technology/engineering and public safety education.

Other 2017 funding priorities outlined by the company include reaching women and other under-represented populations; Motorola Solutions employee engagement; forming partnerships with non-profit organisations; financial organisational health; and evaluating program impact and outcomes.

The technology and engineering education category supports programs that engage students in innovative, hands-on technology and engineering activities such as coding, programming and robotics. It also offers vocational skills and certifications in engineering or information technology; helps teachers improve their teaching of STEM subjects; and elevates system change through field building.

Meanwhile, the public safety education category supports programs that provide professional development and training opportunities to first responders, including wellness programs; safety and disaster preparedness training for the general public; preparing youth and young adults for careers in public safety through outreach and educational programs; providing support to families of first responders, including recovery support; and investment in education and training scholarships for public safety professionals as well as the families of fallen first responders.

To be eligible, applicants must be non-profit organisations or schools. Preference will be given to programs that take place in or near metropolitan areas where Motorola Solutions has an office. These include Birmingham, Alabama; San Diego, California; Westminster, Colorado; Plantation, Florida; Lawrenceville, Georgia; Schaumburg/Elgin, Illinois; Chicago; Linthicum, Maryland; West Valley City, Utah; and Seattle, Washington.

Letters of inquiry must be received no later than 24 February 2017. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by 22 May 2017.

See the Motorola Solutions Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
