Last chance to book for ARCIA's Perth conference and dinner
Bookings for ARCIA’s upcoming one-day conference and networking dinner, to be held on 22 March at the Aloft Perth Hotel, are closing next week. The conference will be the first critical comms-focused event to be held in Western Australia in several years, and will feature two half-day workshops as well as a jam-packed conference stream of presentations, panels and case studies.
Of particular interest to WA locals will be a case study on Pilbara mining operation Roy Hill, which in 2020 commissioned a project to design, engineer and construct world-class communications infrastructure that involved co-siting LTE with digital radio (TETRA). Roy Hill partnered with Radlink Communications for engineering, construction, deployment, testing and commissioning of the project, which took into account a range of factors including the harsh Pilbara conditions.
Roy Hill is now understood to be the first miner to co-site LTE with digital radio, thus sharing backhauls, towers, power etc. The ground-breaking project was done safely, on time and on budget, with Roy Hill seeing this not only as a cost-saving exercise but also as low-risk to operations.
Another local story is a presentation on how the Western Australia Police Force (WAPF) is using unified communications — the integration of voice, video and/or data services — to provide increased situational awareness and effectiveness to the frontline. Through a proof of concept in the coastal town of Exmouth, implemented in partnership with Wireless Innovation, WAPF is using Starlink, mesh and more to help officers remain connected beyond the land mobile and LTE networks.
The conference will be followed by the ARCIA WA State Networking Dinner, featuring a guest speaker, the WA Professional of the Year Award winner announcement and lots of networking time. Everyone is welcome to attend, including partners.
Tickets are extremely limited and sales will close next week; dinner bookings on 15 March and conference bookings on 17 March. For more information and to book now, visit https://arcia.org.au/events/one-day-conference-perth-march-2023/.
