LTE-A carrier aggregation and TDD-FDD handover demonstrations at Mobile World Congress

Tuesday, 26 February, 2013

Aeroflex Limited will be presenting live demonstrations at the Mobile World Congress that will include carrier aggregation on LTE-A user equipment and LTE TDD-FDD handover on the E500 capacity test platform. The demonstrations will take place on the company's stand, C64 in Hall 6.

The 7100 carrier aggregation demonstration will use the TM500 test mobile to emulate the UE under test, along with the 7100 digital radio test set to perform carrier aggregation measurements. As well as carrier aggregation, the test mobile supports all the key LTE-A features of 3GPP Release 10 including enhanced Inter Cell Interference Cancellation (eICIC) and 3GPP Release 10 Transmission Mode 9 (TM9).

The company announced earlier that its E500 LTE capacity test system can successfully hand over data services between TDD and FDD networks. This is a crucial test capability now that network operators around the world are commissioning dual-standard networks as part of the rapid expansion in TD-LTE (LTE TDD) networks. Visitors to Mobile World Congress will see this being demonstrated live at the Aeroflex booth.

Also recently announced for the capacity test system is support for a range of IP data services provided by a custom-designed Shenick diversifEye solution. This uses real data applications including web browsing, video streaming, and voice over LTE (VoLTE) and is also being shown on the stand.
