Thanks given to emergency call personnel
In the United States, the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) has been recognising the men and women who respond to emergency calls and dispatch emergency professionals and equipment during times of crisis.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is being held between 11 and 17 April to appreciate what they call the "first, first responders", for the hard work and dedication of everyone who works inside an emergency communications centre. During the global pandemic that is entering its second year, public safety agencies have experienced unprecedented increases in calls for help.
Telecommunicators are answering thousands of 9-1-1 calls and dispatching first responders, while also worrying about their own safety and that of their families.
