USSOCOM contract awarded

L-3 GCS has been awarded a contract by the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to develop and manufacture very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite systems.

The program, known as Special Operations Forces Deployable Node-Family of Terminals (SDN-Lite FoT), will provide tactically deployed Special Operations Forces users with worldwide communications connectivity. The total contract value is up to $500 million over the next five years.

Bob Jacobson, president of L-3 GCS said, “[We] will begin delivering tri-band Hawkeye III Lite 1.2-m terminals and quad-band 2.0-metre terminals later this year and we are currently ramping up our engineering and production capabilities to meet our customers’ objectives.”
