VIDEO: Lionel Morand, 3GPP, reviews Release 16
In this short video from the 3GPP — recorded shortly after the conclusion of TSG#88e plenary sessions — TSG CT Chair Lionel Morand outlines the importance of Release 15 and the role that Release 16 will play in providing the full set of features for the 5G system.
As reported last month by Critical Comms, the TSG#88e plenary meetings that ended 3 July 2020 saw Release 16 being completed with the Stage 3 freeze and the ASN.1 and OpenAPI specification freeze being approved.
In the video, Morand speaks about a new service-based architecture (SBA) dedicated to the interconnection of the new 5G radio access network, as well as several other kinds of new services and the additional features that Release 16 will bring.
