Minister visits bushfire-affected radio sites
Federal Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher has visited teams helping to restore bushfire-affected radio tower sites on the NSW South Coast.
In posts on his Twitter account, the Minister speaks with Ian Wilson from BAI Communications at the BAI tower site near Batemans Bay.
The bushfires damaged the site, which affected the ability of the ABC to broadcast emergency information to recipients across the region.
In the brief interview, Wilson describes the work that was needed to get the site up and running again.
Similarly, the Minister spoke with representatives of NBN Co at a fixed-wireless base station in Mogo that was affected by the bushfires.
NBN Co worked to get the site operational again using backup power within 24 hours.
