Donation helps St John Ambulance with comms
The St John Ambulance (Qld) Toowoomba Division recently received more than $5300 from the Community Benefit Fund to purchase vital radiocommunications equipment.
The division, which services the Toowoomba Regional Council area, currently has more than 52 members providing vital first aid and medical assistance to events and disasters across the region. The funding allowed the division to purchase eight portable radios.
Divisional Manager Maree Leschke said the funding support was much appreciated and ensured the volunteers could continue to improve health and safety in the Ipswich region.
“With radiocommunications, our emergency response times at events and disasters across the region significantly improves,” she said.
“The Toowoomba Division identified the need for more radios to accommodate for a surge in events in the area.”
Leschke said the generosity of the Community Benefit Fund and the exceptional first aid skills of the Toowoomba Division will ensure residents in the region and surrounding area are kept safe at community events and disasters.
“While we hope we never have to call through an emergency on our radios, it is great to know that we have the equipment to deal with a life-threatening situation,” Leschke said.
