Extra safety data for first responders
Emergency services personnel in Belgium will soon be able to retrieve important automobile information via their mobile devices.
The Car Crash Recovery System (CCRS) database contains information that can be vital when attempting to rescue people from a car when there has been an accident.
CCRS includes data about the location of vehicle components (airbag gas cartridges, seatbelt tensioners, etc) and how to deactivate them, by brand, model and year of construction.
Belgium’s ASTRID, which manages the voice and data communication network for all emergency and security services in the country, is testing the capability with the Eupen fire brigade.
