Maldives receives DAMM TETRA network
DAMM has secured a contract to supply the Maldives with a nationwide public safety network.
The mission-critical communication system will be implemented for the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The TETRA network will cover more than 300 km2 and close to 1200 islands, grouped in 26 atols, and will be used by Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Special Forces, Service Corps and Corps of Engineers personnel for mission-critical tasks such as security operations, rescue operations and border patrol.
The Republic of the Maldives in the middle of the Indian Ocean has a climate characterised by high heat and salty air. With the IP65 encapsulated TETRA base station, DAMM offers a system suitable for this harsh, demanding environment.
The system has been delivered in close collaboration with DAMM’s experienced system partner, Waves Group.
“Providing a futureproof and secure mission-critical system with a low TCO was key to our customer. With its low weight and rugged design the mast-mountable base station offers easy installation as well as low OPEX, and the easy remote management makes it ideal for an island country,” said James Samuel, CEO of Waves Group.
“The flexibility and scalability of our decentralised solution makes it ideal for this challenging topography,” said Kjeld Pharao, CEO of DAMM.
