Public safety, security to lead PTT-over-cellular market

Collaborations and partnerships between push-to-talk (PTT) service providers and mobile device manufacturers are expected to generate a significant growth opportunity for vendors, according to a report from Persistence Market Research.

The report forecasts that such partnerships will assist PTT-over-cellular (PoC) solution providers to expand their businesses into different regional markets and thereby increase their sales.

The report estimates global PoC market sales to grow at 9.7% CAGR during the 2019–29 assessment period, offering a total incremental opportunity worth more than US$5.3 billion.

The services subsegment is forecast to offer an incremental opportunity worth nearly US$1.8 billion, making it the “most attractive” segment for the assessment period.

The public safety and security industry verticals will continue to hold the largest share of the global PoC market; however, the transportation and logistics industry is also projected to register substantial CAGR.

Unsurprisingly, the North American PoC market is projected to offer the highest opportunity during the forecast period, followed by the European market and East Asian markets.

The report forecasts that collaborations with smartphone manufacturers are likely to help PTT solutions providers combine PoC functionality in individual devices.
