US and Canada agree on spectrum
The FCC and Industry Canada have announced agreement on three interim spectrum sharing arrangements covering wireless applications along the nations’ common border.
The first agreement covers the sharing and coordination of 71-76, 81-86, 92-94 and 94.1-96 GHz bands, for uses such as mobile broadband backhaul, high-speed wireless LANs and broadband internet.
The second agreement covers general aviation air-to-ground services in two bands in the middle of the 400 MHz band.
The third agreement covers the 896-901 and 935-940 MHz bands used by specialised mobile radio and business/industrial services within 100 kilometres of the common border.
