Trunkissimo single-site trunking platform
Westel says it has demonstrated its Project 25 single-site trunking platform Trunkissimo interoperating with Motorola XTS5000 portables.
The platform is focused on small agencies operating in a relatively small area such as railway shunting yards, shopping malls and prisons - facilities where a single site is all that is required.
The platform is based on Westel’s DRB-25 repeater/base station. Modular construction enables the company to pack three trunked repeater channels together with the Project 25 trunking controller into a 6RU high subrack.
The platform operates in the 150 and 450 MHz bands and additional features available in the DRB-25 such as telephone interconnect, VoIP and web-based diagnostics will be migrated to it during 2008.
A variant of the platform, Centralis, which will permit up to five channels to be mounted in the same sub-rack but using external OEM pass is also under development.
Trunkissimo and Centralis will also support the P25 fixed station interface enabling control of the station via an IP type network and WRFTC is working with a console supplier to implement this.
