Southern Linc goes with Ericsson MCPTT
US communications service provider Southern Linc has chosen Ericsson to supply ‘next-generation’ mission-critical PTT (MCPTT) communications equipment.
Southern Linc’s customers include utilities, first responders, public sector entities and private firms.
“Ericsson has been a trusted partner of ours, and this solution gives our customers reliable push-to-talk services that help those dedicated to protecting and serving others,” said Tami Barron, President and CEO of Southern Linc.
Ericsson’s Group Radio MCPTT will be deployed on Southern Linc’s LTE network and will feature multicast over Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) to support very large talk groups in limited geographical areas, as well as capabilities to facilitate controlled group communication within and across large end-user organisations.
Ericsson becomes the sole provider of Southern Linc’s LTE/EPC, IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), eMBMS and 4G RAN services.
The contracted MCPTT solution will evolve over time to cater for new capabilities, such as the eventual transition to 5G.
