TETRA tech supports Ho Chi Minh City's first urban rail line

The TETRA communication system supplied by Teltronic for Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 has successfully entered into operation, following the launch of the city’s first urban rail line.

Line 1, which connects the city centre (Ben Thanh) with the north-east (Suoi Tien), spans 19.7 km, combining underground and elevated sections. This strategic project aims to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in Vietnam’s most populous city.

As the technology provider for Hitachi Rail, the project’s main contractor, Teltronic was responsible for the design, supply and implementation of a comprehensive communication solution based on its TETRA radio system. The solution includes the network infrastructure that provides TETRA coverage along the entire Line 1 route; onboard radio equipment and control consoles for the 17 trains in service; portable and fixed terminals used by maintenance and security personnel; and the control centre solution, which features six operator workstations across two locations.

Teltronic has integrated its solution with other train subsystems, such as public address and intercom, as well as the Train Control & Management System (TCMS).

“We are very proud to have contributed to the success of this historic project for Ho Chi Minh City,” said Felipe Sanjuan, Transport Business Development Director at Teltronic. “Our technology ensures secure, reliable and efficient communications, which are essential for the daily operation of the railway system.”
