UK port upgrades control centre and comms
Ports of Jersey in the UK has chosen Frequentis to modernise its control centres through an integrated communication system, a 10-year maintenance contract and the first Frequentis implementation of a vessel traffic service (VTS) in UK waters.
The contract includes a vessel traffic management service, MCS 3020 IP Voice Communication System, event logging and Search and Rescue Information System features, plus upgrades of towers, multiple radios, radars and automatic identification system sites.
“Ports of Jersey operates a 24/7 coastguard and VTS in a challenging environment, with both commercial and dense leisure traffic requiring reliable communications and effective traffic image to ensure the safe movement of vessels and coordination of Maritime SAR (Search and Rescue),” said Russell Mathew, coastguard and VTS manager at Ports of Jersey. “We have full confidence in Frequentis providing our integrated solution.”
