Leadtek has released its LR9548S GPS module in a high sensitivity and low power, surface-mount package.

The 20-channel GPS receiver is designed for a wide range of OEM applications and is based on the GPS signal search capabilities of a SiRFstarIII single chip, SiRF's newest technology.

It supports both standard NMEA-0183 and SiRF binary protocols.

The device comes in a compact 24 x 20 x 2.9 mm module size to allow quick and easy integration into a wide range of applications such as PDAs, pocket PCs, car and marine navigation, fleet management and asset tracking.

It features a cold, warm and hot start time of 42, 38 and 1 s and a signal reacquisition time of 0.1 s.
