GPS18-A GPS antenna

The GPS18-A high performance GPS antenna is suited to automotive use and a variety of OEM system integrator and end-user applications. It features: a low noise figure of 1.0 dB - suitable for use in high foliage and urban valley areas; operation from 2.5 to 5.5 VDC; 31 dBi gain; 22 mA consumption; a magnetic base for easy mounting; and a 5 m RG174 and terminated SMB connector.

RFI has also introduced the GPS18-A-BKT sub assembly kit to allow a high performance GPS antenna to be mounted underneath any of its elevated feed antennas. The kit comes complete with the GPS18-A active antenna mounted onto a black chrome plated stainless steel bracket that allows for retro-fitting to a previously installed antenna. Just simply back off the step nut, lift up the antenna, slide the bracket past the cable and re-fit the stepped nut. The kit also comes with 6 x 4" black cable ties so you can neatly route the cable alongside the existing RG58 type cable.

This solution provides GPS navigation, vehicle tracking and AVL (automotive vehicle location) facilities on a very simple, unobtrusive bracket located at the base of an existing antenna. When mated with the GPS18-A, no additional holes need to be drilled and there are no concerns with the magnetic mounted GPS antenna being stolen or slipping off when brushed by a tree.
