GME has included several new features in the TX4800.

Now both the UHF and VHF models have a 500-channel capacity and a more user-friendly display that can display up to nine large-digit alpha tags. Also included is a channel zoning feature with the ability to have up to 50 channel zones with the only limitation on the number of channels per zone being the total number of channels in the radio cannot exceed 500.

Other features include: coverage from 450-520 MHz (UHF) and 136-174 MHz (VHF); multi-trunk or signal strength voting standard; 25 or 5 W output; full built-in tone signalling — CTCSS, DCS and multi-tone SelCall formats; alphanumeric dot matrix LCD — channel and SelCall display; seven programmable soft keys; 40 SelCall memories; full die-cast chassis and metal mounting bracket; tri-colour backlighting; ingress protected IP67.

The radio has a flash-upgradeable microprocessor to meet the demands of the future.
