Barrett Communications has been awarded a $6 million contract to supply HF equipment to an undisclosed border security agency in Central Asia as part of a United States Assistance program.

The equipment to be supplied is the PRC-2090 Tactical HF Manpack, the PRC-2091 Tactical HF Mobile and the PRC-2092 Tactical HF Base Station. The PRC-2090 transceiver is the basis of all configurations and its intuitive user interface ensures that operation is very simple, requiring minimal user training.

The units will provide the user with secure long-range voice and data comms without the need for existing infrastructure.

“Having a single transceiver across all configurations allows the communications equipment to be easily scalable,” explains General Manager Barrett Communications Europe Andrew Burt. “The end user already has a significant quantity of Barrett equipment, so the additional equipment will enable the agency to continue its critical operations with fit-for-purpose equipment that can handle the extreme conditions.”
