Mark-E, a subsidiary of the Hagen-based ENERVIE Group and, with over 300,000 customers, one of the largest energy suppliers in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has commissioned the first DMR Tier III trunked radio system supplied by Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH in Germany.

The project included nine DMR base stations, two switching nodes connected to the telephone network, network management, a dispatcher system and over 80 mobiles for installation in vehicles and handheld radios. On 19 November 2012, the system was set to test mode; once the test phase has been completed, operation will commence and it will completely supersede Mark-E’s analog private mobile radio system.

Mark-E supplies customers with electricity, heat, steam and, in the case of Hagen, gas and drinking water. Its 300,000 private and commercial customers, 1200 industry customers and energy trading partners use around 13 billion kilowatt hours of power annually; Mark-E supplies 1300 megawatts from its own production plants.
