Improved worker safety for France airport

Tuesday, 17 July, 2012

Sepura’s STProtect indoor monitoring and location system has been deployed at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport in France.

The system works with higher-specification models of the STP8000 and STP9000 series of handheld radios to provide a built-in communications and location system.

Covering an area of 2000 hectares, the airport handles around eight million passengers a year. The system has provided the ability to locate the position of STProtect-enabled TETRA radios in use.

In addition to the system’s core function of enabling operatives, particularly lone workers, to be located quickly and easily in an emergency, STProtect also enables organisations to control access to certain areas of sites, monitor the location and movement of all deployed radios and provide users, such as maintenance engineers and security guards, with set routes and checkpoints.
