Rugged tablets optimise productivity for mining company

As a leading steelmaking and mining company, ArcelorMittal aims to produce ever smarter steels that have a positive effect on people and the planet. By equipping itself with Getac F110 and A140 total solutions for the past three years, ArcelorMittal France has benefited from IT solutions and accessories such as docking stations, chargers and remote antennas. Technical service project monitoring is included to adapt the solutions to changing needs, as is total warranty cover including accidental damage.

To carry out its maintenance and production operations, ArcelorMittal’s Dunkirk site uses not only tablets but also docking stations and vehicle power adapters, as well as remote antennas attached directly to the machines. The fully rugged F110 and A140 tablets are suited to use in materials handling equipment that is subject to strong vibrations, heat or dust, as well as intensive use of the screen.

The F110 tablet enables ArcelorMittal users to work effectively in a difficult operating environment, thanks to its data storage capacity, autonomy and fast connectivity for transferring data quickly and efficiently. The A140 tablet meanwhile gives workers the ability to easily access information thanks to its 14″ screen and offers efficient, uninterrupted operation thanks to its dual removable and hot-swappable battery design.

“The Getac tablets have considerably improved the availability of our slab handling application and equipment; in fact, they have eliminated equipment-related network loss problems, as they can connect to the 4G/5G network,” said Sébastien Denisselle, Decarbo Digital Project Manager, ArcelorMittal France Dunkerque. This robust connectivity ensures that the operations are not disrupted by communication problems, which is essential in this operating environment.

The tablets offer a user-friendly, intuitive interface that makes it easy to view and use the various applications, improving the efficiency of teams in the field. Indeed, their flexibility and ease of use enable operators to adopt the technology quickly for optimised operations.

“The flexibility of Getac tablets is a major advantage in busy operational environments,” Denisselle said. “The ability to interchange tablets between different machines while remaining operational is a precious asset. This enables us to react quickly to changing needs in the field and optimise the use of our resources. Getac tablets play a key role in improving our productivity, efficiency and ability to maintain high-performance operations, even in the most demanding situations.”
