The TDi2 from Radiometrix is an RS232 interface board that combines a TDL2A 433-9 OEM multi-channel wireless modem module (operating at a half-duplex serial data rate of 9600 bits/s), an RS232 driver, a 9-way DB9F connector, helical SMA aerial and power connectors, and a local 5 V voltage regulator.
A pair can be used as a serial RS232 cable replacement in many 9600 baud half-duplex applications. It just needs to be connected to a 6 to 15 V power supply and it operates without the need for any additional interface circuitry.
Status LEDs indicate reception of valid data packets and power ‘on’ and it can be enabled by DTE asserting DTR.
The synthesiser-based module operates on five non-overlapping frequencies in the 433 MHz European ISM band with an option to choose eight addressed point-to-point links. Its -107 dBm sensitive receiver and full 10 mw transmit output power combine to offer a typical range of well over 200 m.
The integrated wireless device is suitable for portable applications such as remote data acquisition and industrial telemetry systems and interfaces easily to handheld terminals, PDAs, laptop computers and data loggers.
