MiMOMax has released a routing adaptation protocol (M-RAP), an optional suite of protocols that provides automatic dynamic re-routing in the event of a path failure, thereby enabling inherent network redundancy.
The protocol allows communications to continue in the event of a failure, provided alternate communication links exist.
Protocols supported include Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Generic Route Encapsulation (GRE).
OSPF is used at a WAN level to determine the shortest path between two sites. This optional protocol then selects an alternate path to ensure interruption-free communication.
VRRP is used at a LAN level to ensure that devices on a LAN have redundant local gateways. In the event of a failure, the remaining routers select a new default gateway to ensure that devices on the local network can continue communicating with the WAN.
GRE is used to transfer monitoring statistics from OSPF to a central monitoring server. The protocol enables network operators to build robust and redundant wireless networks with the capability to rapidly and automatically re-route around network failures.
