AeroComm has enhanced the ZB2430 'ZigBee Your Way' transceiver range to feature output power, receive sensitivity and line-of-sight range (up to 5 km).

The company has developed what it claims is the lowest cost ZigBee module available, the ZB2430-D. It is targeted at high volume, cost-sensitive, short-range applications where battery-powered communication is a must.

Based on the Texas Instruments 802.15.4 System-on-Chip and Z-Stack technology, the device targets secure, low-power, mesh network applications.

It communicates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, making it suitable for OEMs preferring to standardise on one global platform for their end product needs.

Modules are offered as either coordinators and routers or end devices. Network scan, auto-configuration, dynamic routing, discovery and security enable the mesh network - delivering reliable redundancy, secure multi-communication nodes and long-range performance. Embedded flash memory of 128 KB provides room for larger, more complex application profiles.

Developer kits are available and each includes evaluation boards with multiple configuration options selectable by OEMs to determine the feature set that is suitable for their application.
