Radio Communications Solutions is a professional sales and service two-way radio company that has been servicing central and northern Queensland since 1999. It offers a range of products and sells and services most major brands, including Motorola, Icom, Tait, GME and Uniden.

Based in Mackay, with permanent field staff at strategic locations throughout the Bowen Basin, the company is a growing team made up of engineers, installers, technicians and sales and administration support and is a major contractor and supplier of telecommunications equipment to the local government, sugar industry, tourism and mining sectors.

It has also undertaken large projects for BHP-Billiton and Rio Tinto coalfields of Queensland.

One of the company’s main tasks is to manage documentation and track jobs and orders in great detail.

It found the bookkeeping solution it was using could not keep up with business growth, and because its existing system did not have a comprehensive search function, the company was wasting an inordinate amount of time tracking down job numbers.

Based on several positive referrals from others in the industry, and after trialling different software, the company found Jim2 Business Engine from Happen Business to be the most appropriate and consistent accounting solution and adopted it.

Since its implementation, all the issues the company earlier faced have disappeared as the new system combines accounting, workflow and business process management software into one integrated package that greatly simplifies the work cycle.

The company says its deployment of Jim2 Business Engine has resulted in increased performance and improved connectivity, as well as a general boost in productivity. It has also enabled compliance with its quality management system.

The business engine can turn jobs into purchase orders while ensuring that every job and order process is documented consistently. As a result, much of the company’s data management and routine procedures have been simplified.

The engine solution makes it easier to control data and perform detailed searches.

The company has also extended its use of the engine to become a complete business management tool by using it to generate sales quotes. Once a customer accepts a sales quote, it is turned into a job and sent to the service department.

Now all services work together through an all-in-one integrated accounting and eBusiness system.

The ease and speed of installation and migration from the original system also earned the seal of approval of staff. Training was provided on site, ensuring buy-in from all the staff. Richer reporting features, in particular, impressed management.

Every report now comprises more detail and information and can handle serial number tracking, which is an integral part of the company’s business, as it provides a variety of products and support to users.
