With small dimensions and a large display, the Rohde & Schwarz FSH3 handheld spectrum analyser has an upper frequency limit of 3 GHz and numerous measurement functions. It has been specifically designed for mobile applications including areas of mobile communication, such as installation, maintenance, servicing and field-strength measurements, as well as use in laboratories and universities or by electronics hobbyists.
The analyser has conveniently arranged keys and direct access to all basic functions at a keystroke. The internal memory can store up to 100 measurement traces or instrument setups for retrieval later on.
As the functions are integrated in customer-specific ASICs, the analyser features large-scale integration and low power consumption. A total of six different ASICs perform all the functions required of a high-end spectrum analyser with a built-in tracking generator. These functions and features include resolution bandwidths from 1 kHz to 1 MHz and video bandwidths from 10 Hz to 1 MHz in 1, 3 steps, precise detection and logarithmic conversion of the filtered IF signals as well as various detectors for signal weighting (autopeak, peak, sample and RMS). Signal processing from the last intermediate frequency is purely digital and takes place in real-time.
The integrated Windows software provides relevant documentation allowing the user to track changes in the case of recurring measurements. The measurement results can be stored in the common graphics formats, as text files or in Excel format, complete with date and time and all settings.
